Imagine your life passing before your eyes. Your friends, family, dreams, could all disappear with a blink of an eye. For Bethany Hamilton, this is what came to her mind as she was paddling back to shore. Her arm had just been taken off by a tiger shark, when she was just thirteen years old.
In the book, Soul Surfer, Bethany talks about her dedication to surfing, and how her schedule revolves around it. She is a normal teenage girl from Kauai, Hawaii. She is homeschooled and has two older brothers, Noah and Timmy Hamilton. In this inspiring autobiography, Bethany describes the attack and talks about her struggles with adjusting to life with one arm, and how having faith and trust in God will get you through anything. She discovers that hard times are all a part of His holy and perfect plan. Throughout the sharing of her story, she has inspired so many with her faith, courage, and determination.
Read this book to discvoer the amazing journey God leads her through while shattering people's expectations and doubts. I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved learning about how she overcame her struggles with the help of God. If you are looking for a motivations, inspiring, or just a good read, this is an excellent choice!

If your deceased aunt sent you a box of letters and strict instructions to go to Europe, would you go? Virginia (Ginny) Blackstone is a completely ordinary girl. Her Aunt Peg, not so much. Aunt Peg lived inNew York, but thought that she was too tied down to it, so she got up and left for Europe. Before she died of a brain tumor, she made 13 little blue envelopes for Ginny and put them in a package. She then gave the package to the owner of 4th Noodle, the Chinese restaurant underneath her apartment. They contained places for Ginny to go, in the same order as Aunt Peg went. They also contain rules such as: no electronic crutches, only what fits in a backpack, no money, and no electronically communicating with anyone from the United States. Now she’s got Ginny backpacking across Europe to find herself.
Once Ginny arrives in Europe, she has a quest: to go to London and find a man named Richard and stay with him until her next adventure. While in London, she must find a struggling artist who needs money and give them 500 pounds. She found a college student putting on a play called “Starbucks the Musical.” His name was Keith. She took a liking to him after seeing his play, but knew he would never even notice she was alive. Eventually, the time came for her to leave, but she and Keith had become good friends. She asked him if he would like to go with her on her next adventure and he happily accepted. They go to meet her aunt’s friend, Mari, in Edinburgh. Mari showed them some art and then drew a lion on Ginny’s shoulder. When they left, Keith took a wind-up Godzilla to give to Ginny as a gift, but she got mad at him for stealing (since he had stolen things inhis past and told her he had changed). Eventually, he just left her and went back to London.
Ginny’s adventures continued on, meeting new people, going to new places, trying new things. Eventually the letters took her to Paris, where she met Keith again, to her surprise. He had to go a few days later though, because his play was performing in Paris that night. Ginny got really sad because she knew she would miss him. She continued on her adventures and made many new friends, though.I really enjoyed reading this book because in the beginning, you’d think it’s about a girl whose aunt just sent her on a crazy trip for no reason, but then you later find out that she had just wanted Ginny to find herself. All in all, this book was thoroughly entertaining.I give this book five stars because it was really cool to read about a shy, high school girl who one day just heads off for Europe. I would probably recommend it to any 14+ year old who likes adventures and drama.

Have you ever imagined what the world would be like without emotion, color, feelings, and or even expressions? Jonas is an eleven year old boy, but I wouldn’t quite call him ordinary. He lives in a perfect society with his friends Asher and Fiona. Jonas seems to have a different look on things compared to everyone else. He has always noticed things others don’t.
One day, Jonas sees something unusual when he and his friend are tossing an apple back and forth. He doesn’t understand what it is at first. Jonas starts to see things like colors and he feels things, like he feels emotional. He tries to tell his friends about what he is experiencing but they don’t understand and neither does he.
When he is twelve, Jonas and his friends attend a ceremony where they will be given their jobs. Fiona is given the job to take care of the elderly, Asher is given a job as a recreation director, and Jonas who was last out of everybody is given the job to become The Giver. He is now the person who will keep all of the memories of the world before the community was a perfect society, memories of times when there were emotions and color and lots of feelings. Jonas is confused and wonders why everyone can’t enjoy these memories so he starts on a journey to bring back those memories for everybody to enjoy. Read the book The Giver to find out what happens.
I thought this book was very interesting and unique. I have never read a book like this. I enjoyed reading this book and it seemed like my classmates did as well. I would defnitely recommend this book, especially if you like action and unique books. I would rate this book a four and a half star rating.
